Not to get too off topic, but the new US flights are on props, and take nearly an hour longer than the UAX flights on jets.
Checking a random date (Jan 10th), all four USX flights are blocked at 93 minutes, and the UAX flights are blocked at 75, 76, 81, 86, 90, and 96 minutes.. so I'm not sure if the flying time is nearly an hour longer.
In any event, I find the Dash 8 to be much more comfortable than the CRJ and would gladly give the USX option a try, although then I wouldn't get my 500 mile minimum.
