Sounds like I pissed them off. Earlier this week, I added a 4th night at the start of my stay using points. I noticed that both back-to-back reservations were upgraded already to suites. But then, the weather in Chiang Mai was too beautiful to leave, so I cancelled the award stay before the deadline. I then had numerous email exchanges trying to modify the car service - they originally gave me the right flight but wrong pickup time, then the wrong car type from what was originally scheduled, then the wrong rate. I was pleasant in each of my email exchanges.
I'll get to the hotel in a few hrs, but I see now I've been downgraded back to then original booking. Apparently, they are retaliating. As it is non-refundable, I will have to stick it out, but in the event we don't get the upgrade, I'll probably throw the money away and go somewhere else. Go ahead and flame me, but if a plat is upgraded in advance then downgraded without an explanation, it leaves a bad taste. I seem to remember a thread along the lines of that topic.
