I don't know if I'm posting in the right place but here is my dilemma. One of my relatives just bought a condo on the big island in Hawaii and the only time we can all (family of five) can go is over Christmas. I have both AA and DL points and the wife has two free tickets with her Chase CC. Unfortunately the points don't go as far during Christmas but I'm willing to pay extra since the lodging is free. The main problem is with my oldest son who cannot travel until 12/20 from BHM. I only have around 50K Delta points which doesn't cover the points required for a 12/20 departure. I need 77,500 for that. I looked at buying points but to make up the difference but it was going to be $784. That seems like almost the cost of a cheaper R/T ticket. Would it be feasible to earn extra points with say a credit card offer or is it too late for that? I missed an offer that Hyatt had not long ago that gave Skymiles points with a four night stay.
