Cost to AA to fly a passenger-big difference for short vs. long haul?
I was wondering how much it cost AA per passenger to complete flight. I know things like meals, etc.. are a factor, but it is really that much more expensive for AA to fly me from DFW to Austin (183 miles) vs. Miami to Seattle (2700+miles)?
So is distance in the cost to AA really one of the least determining factors, and rather things like crews, airport rents, ticketing/res support, take off/landing fees, etc.. make most of the difference which would seem to be rather fixed (to a certain degree) rather than too different on short and long haul?
