A Delta agent recently recently explained that it is policy to rebook rater than backup. It meant losing my comfortable BE seat on a 777 because it appeared to be a mis connect in Detroit.

Got to the gate in time, but a middle seat on the 777 wasn't going to cut it after losing my BE seat. Not customer friendly and certainly a lot more work for the GAs who previously seemed to be able to gage whether passengers would make it or miss.
