There are other counter-examples (to "the jig is up") here and there in the 75k/100k Citi AA bonus discussion over in the Miles & Buzz forum.
One fairly consistent example: If all you've ever had is personal cards, Citi is likely to still consider giving you a business Visa (because they count personal and business cards totally separately).
But, yes, there are other examples here and there in that 75k/100k thread of people getting personal AA cards who've either had or even have a Citi AA card already. But then continuing examples of others who get rejected for that reason too. YMMV rules!
