If both flights are on Delta and on the same reservation, they should automatically issue your boarding passes for both segments when you check in at ORD. If not, give them the reservation PNR for the second segment and they should be able to issue them manually. When you get back to JFK from your jaunt, just walk straight to Security end then to your gate.
