IIRC boarding passes for widebodies (at least international flights and possibly HNL?) do say 40 minutes. Agree with you on the 757, and hell I'd even say start boarding MD-80s at T-40. CO boards their 737s at T-35 and that extra five minutes works wonders sometimes. The FAs in FA always manage a PDB on CO.
Yes, but the BPs for domestic wide body flights (JFK/LAX, JFK/SFO, JFK/MIA, etc.) still say 30 minutes.
