Well we've just paid for seats for a CE trip to NCE next month. When I checked EF the only seats together which were left was 3D/F (apart from 1A/C & 2D/F which were blocked of course). I didn't want to take the chance that these seats would still be available at T-24, so paid for 3D/F. If these blocked seats are still available at T-72 then I may shift.
One thing to remember with CE is that, unlike CW, the number of seats is not fixed, so one month out I really wouldn't take any notice of what's available now. You could well find that between now and your flight next month the curtain moves back to increase availability, which is another reason not to shell out good money to pay for CE seat selection.
