I don't see why.

I pick my reward program(s) according to my staying patterns. If there is no or few properties of one chain fitting my stay pattern, than obviously I'm not their elite customer and they are not my choice hotel chain. Easy as that. Yes, I do enjoy HH Gold status when I stay at Hilton properties, a residue of my this year Diamond challenge. But I still stay most of my stays in IC (and related) properties, simply because they are where I am.

As for Hyatt - I had a 5 nights stay in Baku, AZ, where they are practically the only reasonable option. Thru a promotion this took me to their Plat level. Do I have much use of it in Europe? No.
