I tried to get a bump on IAD-SFO last year as a 3P and they told me I'd have to pay for my own overnight (it was the first day of spring break and they had no openings until the following day). I declined the bump.

Keep in mind that you can't combine the three sets of $400 for a single $1200 ticket. The VDB vouchers are non-combinable with vouchers in a different set.
