What I DO find objectionable are:
1. strangers who call you by short first name when you've introduced yourself by official first name. In Dresden, Germany, I once roomed with 2 brothers from New Zealand who were Matthew & Andrew to me but Matt & Andy to each other.
2. elders who refuse to quit using the juvenile form of your first name when you are an adult: "Aunt Martha, now that I'm over 21 & have a job, my name is Tim, not Timmy."
