777Brit, I will try and post this without mistakes, as I do not want you to make me write them out 100 times!!

I will tell you what I think that 'logic' is.I suspect that those people who were in there had actually, like you, used awards and were confirmed in the cabin sometime before. I suspect that those who requested within the regular Plat/Gold windows may have been downgraded to the J seats with Y service.

When we went out to HNL from LAX last, they did the reverse and switched an Int 763 onto HNL. We got the F seats and were very pleased. By what miracle that occurred I donot know as I have no particular status with American and was on an award. I would add that when that happens the F service becomes a Business Class service as it is being offered to so many. The crew thought that the F seats were allocated to full fare payers, but that was certainly not the case with us.
