My last experience was a couple weeks ago JFK-LAX transcon. Earlier flt was canceled so there were people lined up through the corridors who had to be re-booked.

My flt was coming from SNN. Only a little late but another problem... they couldn't find an unaccompanied minor. Yep, the girl traveled from Ireland and is now lost in the JFK airport.

Another 30-min delay while they tried to find her. Finally the flt got clearance to board (still hadn't found the girl) but there was the matter of those other pax.

We eventually got out a couple hrs late but not all the stand-bys made the flt. Never did find out what happened to the girl. Oh, and the best part... there was ONE GA to handle all of this. She was bouncing between the stand-bys/dealing with the lost child/trying to get this flt boarded.

Gotta love JFK. Yes, it is so.... third world.
