Ominous, from the LAN website:

"Frequent flyer program members would be able to earn and redeem miles on more flights, and be able to earn miles through more partners than ever before."

And from www.latamairlines.com, in the customer FAQ:

LAN is a member of Oneworld and TAM is a member of Star Alliance. Is anything changing?
We deeply value the alliance relationships we have built. In the short term, there will be no changes regarding our alliance partners. Continue to book and fly on alliance partners as you would today. After the transaction is completed, LATAM would evaluate the best alliance options for the combined carrier group.
I have a LANPASS and a Fidelidade account. Can I combine them?
Until the transaction is complete, the programs will remain separate. We will announce a timeline to combine the programs in the future.
To me, the above imply LA moving to *A.

Mind you, I typically use LAN once a year for domestic flights so, apart from priority boarding and the ability to select 2A (row 1 is airport only), I don't see a major loss...
