Personally, I believe we will always have to contend with unprepared travellers--with any unneeded complexities in security procedure simply exacerbating the wait. I have missed flights because of a need to re-clear security, and that can hose up my day if I need to make a connection on a route with very few free seats (DEN to PDX or SEA) on a Friday afternoon comes to mind).
