Thanks for the excellent recap. The only thing that I would add for OP is that there are pickpockets on the Metro, so you need to be particularly careful, especially if the train is crowded. You will not be at your most alert, so make sure wallet, passport, travel documents are somewhere that someone will have to get extremely friendly with you to access them.
