I suspect that if we really wanted to save time, we'd really not need to look much farther than that time vampire called the TSA Security Check And Related Chronologically Unfriendly Policies.
I routinely leave my house 1hr to 1hr 20 minutes before my flight. I live 20 miles from the airport. I take 99 on down and park, get through security and typically get to the gate right at boarding. How do the TSA policies really hurt my business day? They don't. To me it's no different than pre-911. I have to take my shoes off but that's not a rate taking step. Other travelers not being prepared causes more delay than the TSA. I'm not sure why people continually whine about this.

Interesting to note that VX was not included on that graph. They have probably a newer fleet or more efficient a/c.
Hunt around on the Seattle Times website. They had an article about this as well yesterday. Basically, the 320 doesn't have the same seat/gallon distance that the 737's have, so it's doubtful. The 737 is the king of efficiency among large aircraft.
