I'm interested in seeing Wat Phu in Pakse, Laos, but I'm not quite clear how to get there from Bangkok. If I were to do Laos, I would want to hit up Pakse, Vientiane, and Luang Prabang. The first thing that I want to do is hit Pakse. I think I read somewhere that Pakse is not far from Ubon Ratchathani. Is this true? How far is it? How long is the trip from Ubon Ratchathani to Pakse by bus? Can I get a Laos visa at the border? I'm a Canadian passport holder. Also, are there flights from Pakse to either Vientiane or Luang Prabang? I rather not take the bus just because it's so far and that means I'll spend lots of time on the bus.
