We were in quite a smart 4 star plus boutique hotel at Christmas. Fabulous breakfast and lunch but closed for dinner on christmas day and bar closed in the evening ( they told us at time of booking).

Got a bit hungry at about 9pm and sent husband out in snow to find food. Told him to be discreet etc. Get a text about 30 mins later saying come to lobby- think what has he done now!

Find him in the the very smart drawing room with a couple of other families and boxes of pizza. Turns out he asked doorman-who was actually one of the managers covering as it's Christmas night-where to get pizza- then he met another guest doing the same. Doorman called delivery company and sorted it. Then to top it all doorman turns up with beers and cokes etc from some open 7-11 shop - which we have to fight to pay for it all as he is insisting no.
