Only the entry-level rooms at the Imperial are "tiny" (this means size of a Hilton room). These used to be maid's quarters, fwiw. The "normal" rooms cost twice as much (and up) and are twice as big. The last time I stayed at the Imperial the bathroom was bigger than the entry-level room. Now it is entirely possible that the entry-level rooms are marketed as "Deluxe". Basically if you are paying under 500 euros a night then it isn't a regular room.
Service is superb if you have stayed there a few times before; but I remember that it was choppy for my first few stays. They do remember you over time and it is definitely a "10 best hotels in the world" type of property. The Sacher is a big step down, fwiw. Be sure to dine in the Imperial restaurant (not cafe) as it is quite well done and one of the perks of staying there.
Last time I stayed in a Junior Suite which was pretty tired. Is it possible that your positive experiences have anything to do with the fact that you are Starwood Platinum? No, surely not.
