This is something that has been considered in the past, but decided against for a number of a reasons:
- To avoid potential problems for users, who are on locked-down/corporate machines and require administrative privileges to run setup.
- To minimize conflicts with personal firewall/anti-virus software.
- To ensure that members don't miss any important announcements in the News section on the homepage.
One small thing that would be nice for the fairly frequent updates would be for the installer to save the settings I use (for the shortcuts and system files) and then default to those same settings the next time I do an update.
