$150 change fee for international tickets?
Well, I just got my first taste of these new fees.
I am getting married overseas and bought our tickets about a month ago. Well, today the price dropped $200 per ticket.
I sent my fiancee down to the airport as I am out of town and we have paper tickets. I told her to inquire about leaving a couple of days early as we were between projects and would have been sitting at home otherwise.
She switched the flights and but I didn't find out until afterwards that there were $300 in change fees for two tickets. All we did was move one of the flights back a couple of days to a flight that is less than 30% full right now.
I went out of my way to fly AA on this trip when I could have taken Cathay and it just gets at me a bit. I always fly full-fare on my business trips so have never had to encounter these change fees before. I thought they might extend a courtesy since this one was coming out of my own pocket and both myself and my fiancee are Platinum and have almost 2 million combined miles.
How much do these change fees affect their bottom line?
