Looking back, I guess I was just lucky to have had long layovers at LAX, which made for a low-stress commute between AS and DL, AA, or CO. I've even had time to visit the SC or PC lounges.
That changed last year, when I mindlessly chose a DL to AS connection through LAX with only a 45-minute layover, thinking only of how much I wanted to fly on AS metal for at least part of the trip. The significant risk of missing my connection started to sink in as I waited to board the DL flight heading to LAX, and I even sent an SOS to @AlaskaAir on Twitter, desperate for advice on a backup plan. I ended up being crazy lucky to be on a DL flight that arrived nearly half an hour early at LAX, which gave me the extra time I needed to wait for the stupid bus and walk back through security at sad old T3.
I vowed that if I ever had another inter-terminal connection through LAX, I would give myself at least 75 minutes between arrival and departure, with 90 minutes being an ideal buffer.
Here's hoping that the plan for AS and DL to shack up together in T6 stays on schedule.
