For the record, Air India has retired all their A300s as of December 2002. They are being donated to Ariana Afghanistan Airlines as a gift from the people of India. 2 are already in service with them and the third should be entering service this month.
Also, Air India has AMAZING web specials for F class transatlantic. The webfare for ORD-LHR-ORD or JFK-LHR-JFK in FIRST CLASS (flat bed seats, champage and caviar service, the works) is US$2535 RT including taxes. EWR-CDG-EWR runs US$2782 RT including taxes.
You can book them online at
www.airindia.com
Air India flies daily between LHR-JFK, as well as 3x weekly LHR-ORD and 3x weekly CDG-EWR. All flights are with B747-437s and are NON SMOKING, contrary to reports posted here.
