Hi there...!

I'm not fortunate like some of you...the hotels which I care to stay in "in the civilized world" costs around $40-in the case of Seoul, there are a good handful around there. I have stayed in perfectly fine (to me) hotels booked online in Japan for the same rate.

I agree Travelocity has every right to cancel my booking- I just wished they could have handled it better. Mistake rate or no mistake rate.

Wouldn't a simple email have sufficed to explain the situation?

1) Repeatedly asked me to "call back" for personal assistance when the assistance, when I did call back, was just to tell me to cancel the booking

2) When, during my call backs and emails over initially, the confirmed and reconfirmed my booking + rate over and over again. Only after I finally pleaded to "please check and check again" did someone finally come up with what was going on (the first two basically told me there was no problem at all with my booking even after advising them somenone had called, and the line disconnected)

well, I've learned a lesson. never believe a great hotel rate. I'm a noob at this, but I count my lucky :-: i didnt trust the first 2 agents and arrived without a booking!
