Shirt ruined - what to do

I recently stayed in a large Hilton property, well known and moderately respectable.

My shirts came out of my suit bag bag slightly wrinkled, so I grabbed the in room iron and did what I normally do - turn it up to full heat, wait a few minutes for any residue on the surface to burn off and then run the iron on the board, to check, also scraping the surface of the iron on the side edge of the board. Then turn the heat down to the appropriate level. Never let me down yet.

All seemed well on this occasion and the flat surfaces of my shirt ironed well. When I got to the third shirt, when I encountered the pocket, the fold and double stitching being slightly raised had the same scraping effect on the surface of the iron and some plastic like residue was left on my shirt (where it came from, I still cannot say). No problem, I thought, I'll let it cool off and it will chip away. And it did, mostly. I reckoned the balance would wash away.

It didn't - a $100 brilliant white shirt still has an obvious mark on it.

I didn't report it to the hotel at the time, as I reckoned there wouldn't be a problem. But, there is.

What would you do?
