I used to do the PIT-EWR run up every Tuesday and back every Wednesday. I finally threw in the towel on it and moved back to US from LGA, while crediting to CO.

The morning flights were usually fine, but the evening departures out of EWR were horrendous. And for a while, CO tried to charge Plats the SDC fee, which made it a nightmare to deal with the irrops because what was supposed to be flexibility on paper with respect to irrops didn't pan out in practice.

They are clearly just going after inflexible bookers who are going to meetings in Northern NJ because they charge upwards of $800 roundtrip for midweek travel on a noisy, bouncy flight that is generally horrendously late. If they are making money with a 1/3 full plane of B fares, well, more power to them.

Also, the schedules don't work for CLE connections -- layovers are generally too long to save any time over driving.

US may be inferior to CO in general terms, but on this route they fly some better planes (when you can get the E170 over the CRJ), with better reliability at one third the fare. Nobody offers FC on this route.

Until CO puts some Expressjet or mainline planes on this route, or at least charges a competitive fare on this route they can continue to wonder why it doesn't grow when everyone else at PIT except US and WN is seeing double digit YOY growth.
