This is a really good deal for SE Asia, especially if you can hub out of KUL. And MH is reliable and a good choice for SE Asia travel, relative comfort-wise. There is no requirement to take an intercontinental long-haul on MH. I used one of these earlier this year, purchased from the MH office in Beijing, to travel KUL-JOG, CGK-KUL, KUL-BKK and BKK-KUL for a total of USD $300. I bought the pass and booked the flights I wanted for dates I wanted, at the same time. Read the "terms and conditions" link on the bottom right corner of the web page. The catch is that you can only use on international segments not MH domestic, and you must be able to find availability in the correct fare bucket...usually not a problem finding workable flights if far enough in advance. For some countries (i.e. Indonesia) the departure tax is not included, but that's listed in the T & C. Unfortunately, I think they discontinued the Cebu route earlier this summer. But it may tick most of your other boxes. If the price is right and the differential not great, I prefer to take mainline carriers like MH rather than LCC's, due to better comfort and service, baggage allowance, and schedule reliability.
