Sure does. On arrival in SYD last week, I 'spoke' with Customs for a few minutes. They even had a dog sniff my carryon. On arrival back at LAX, I was sent over to a officer for additional questions. After a very long 5 minutes of 'why would you go to SYD for 2 days', and 'how much money do you have on you', I was free to go. As long as you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.
