As I stated at the beginning of this thread, it's the plane the president is on (designated AF-1)...not the plane itself.
AF-2 is the plane that the VP is one. They have other codes for the First lady, etc.
As I also stated, they have many planes at their disposal. At one point, Bill Clinton was going to order a 777 for the new flagship aircraft. I think that idea died.
The bottom line is that the president can go anywhere, anytime with any aircraft (or means of transportation) he chooses.
