I guess you could book using the promo code since the web site appears to have this option. That said, when they ran their double preferred miles promo this Spring, I simply reserved my flight the usual way. I've also done so with other promos that I've registered for.
I know, USAir and smart may be an oxymoron.
Judging by some folks here who ran off and booked travel prior to 10 Aug as the T&C of the promo
clearly tell you to do, I'd suggest discarding the 'USAir' part of your rejoinder.
