COS bonuses? Do you mean for Business and First Class? If so, I can forget about those, since I'll only be flown in Economy. Something which gives me elite status/bonus miles alliance-wide once I get to the appropriate level, would be much more useful.
Similar goes for the E+ on UA, I mightn't always get flown on UA, sadly.

Based upon your anticipated travel pattern, it won't matter much because of the high *A traffic through PVG. LH or UA would seem to be a good choice since you say you'd like to travel to North America and Europe. Should you elect to go to Europe the "long way" through the USA (defined as 'round the worl), you'll rake in miles through the UA/LH reciprocal agreement for TATL flights if you join either program...
