A possible explanation: UA made sure that, on the redesigned web site, even GMs who did not aggressively pursue E+ were fully aware of its existence by prominently featuring in "My Itineraries" a large button that says, "ADD ECONOMY PLUS" where the non-descript "TRAVEL OPTIONS" used to be. This explicit sales pitch might be paying dividends...but that is just a guess.
