think the way the bed guarantee works is that you BOOK the type of room you want (what's in your profile doesn't matter) and then IF you get the other type of bedding you get the bonus (thought it was 2500 points but I may be mistaken).
We're a family of 4. When DH travels he books a king room. His profile says double beds. When he checks in and gets a king he DOESN"T get the bonus points. HE chose that type. If he doesn't get the KING bed then he WOULD get the bonus.
The only time this has worked for us at SS when we book a double room and get upgraded to 2Bd suites that have king beds. We got the bonus even though we chose to take the upgrade (I'd ask if it would be possible) so it wasn't an inconvenience.
