We don't have a purser program. Most other major airlines have f/a's that go through a program that allows them the purser position/duties. At US Airways positions are based on seniority. Primary line holders that bid their postion can hang onto them other wise the most senior get to choose and then down the line. It's not uncommon on domestic to have the most junior f/a working the lead position. Typically on transatlantic (on which the CSD/lead gets paid much more) it is the most senior or close to it. The lead f/a always sits at the forward jumpseat next to the forward left door.
