I know this will be of no use to the original poster, but if travelling from Sol to Nuevos Ministerios I'd avoid using the metro. The Renfe Cercanias station at Sol has been open for some time now and trains take just three minutes to get to Nuevos Ministerios. Line 1 of the metro has narrower trains and I find it frequently crowded, especially at Sol which is such a busy station.
