Hello frequent Delta flyers:

I was wondering if collectively you guys could help me figure out the feasibility of using my SWU(s) on Delta to get from DTW to EZE over the Thanksgiving holiday for a vacation with the girlfriend. I am trying to depart on Wed 11/24 from DTW arriving Thursday, 11/25/10 in EZE. Would like to depart EZE on Saturday, 11/27/10 and naturally arriving in DTW the next day.

I am not as versed as most of you are with the SWU game. I know most fares are absurd to utilize them and 80% of SWUs go unused. However, I chose it as one of my benefits crossing into Diamond Medallion earlier this year. My gf is a Platinum medallion (not sure if that helps us to utilize these). Is it possible to get a confirmed upgrade this far out? I don't want to pay an absurd fare then only have a "chance" at using it.

On Kayak a r/t fare out of Detroit is running around $1,355/person.
