I'm considering a BOS-SIN run this March as well... and the CX routing sounds great, for all the reasons you mentioned, plus I'd be happy to avoid JAL Y in one direction. However, I'm having some trouble getting the BOS-JFK-NRT-HKG-SIN flights to come up... what booking engine are you using? Thanks very much.
