I was able to get coach seat 31H for the outbound and 40G for the return.

I called AY and they said they could not find my reservation and that since it is an AA code share they probably wouldn't be able to confirm a seat for me I would need to talk to AA. AA said I needed to talk to AY. What is the deal?? What do I need to do to get a confirmed seat on the AY flight??

Maybe I didn't wait long enough for the ticket to show up in AY's system.
