In fact, at least here in LAX, which is a shared lounge, access is based on membership, not who you are flying. So, for example, I could fly into LAX on AA , and have a connecting flight on another carrier and still be able to enter the lounge based on membership and nothing else
QF are slightly different. As serfty said, if you're not flying on a QF flight number, QF are not obliged to give you access as an Admirals Club Member.
It never hurts to smile and ask politely when you get there though, but don't expect admittance as a paid Admirals Club member (Paid Qantas Club members can only access Admirals Clubs when on an AA or QF flight number so the reverse is true also).
