Testing out switching over from Delta, even after finally earning gold last year, due to a special promotion where I will be made AA platinum if I fly 10,000 mile by March 15. As a newbie, a couple of questions:

1) As Delta Silver last year, between segment upgrades and the kindness of gate agents, I flew in first/biz virtually every flight, with the exception of tickets purchased on Orbitz. Delta changes make this seem much less likely in '03, part of the reason I'm testing AA. What are my odds of the same results as an AA Gold or Plat?

2) On an AA flight this week, I got 2,422 elite qulifying miles, and 1,211 elite qualifying points, What level of each do I need for Platinum? This question is important because I work for a large corporation and get absurdly low fares, not getting full Delta points for those fares is part of the reason for my switch.

3) There are a lot of ways to get Double or even triple miles on the Amex Delta card. How easy is is with AA credit cards?

4) I have a decent size stock of AA miles (which may never be repeated - I can no longer even look at a bowl of Mueslix). Last year I flew Delta from EWR to Panama City in first class for 30,000 miles. Does AA ever have such promotions?
