Hopefully my last amateur question, so please bare with me.

I signed up a for the Starwood AMEX under the 30k points promo with 1,000 spending in 3 months. Anyways, when I look at my SPG account it still shows 0 starpoints. I understand that it may take a few weeks to recieve the 20k miles but where is my 10k bonus plus points for the amount I have spent? Will that not come until my AMEX statement closes for the the first time?

Additionally, if that is the case, will starpoints always transfer after the monthly statement closes on the account?
