Here's why:

(1) Many people read the posts, not just OP. Some of them are probably interested in LV generally not just the OP's specific issue. So I think it helpful to provide info on other options.

(2) Sometimes OP does not realize that there are other properties which may be suitable. This particular post displayed a lack of homework. So I think it helpful to provide info on the options.

The nice thing about FT is that the moderators are reasonably hands off

compared with other travel sites like BFT which are run by authoritarians who tolerate no sidebars.
