It's not often I disagree with you BlissWorld but I'd take CX J over UA F any day of the week. Let's not forget that the food in UA F is the same as J but with an additional choice of entree, or at least it was when I last flew the Friendly Skies up front.
Unless UA has drastically revamped the catering in F I would say that CX's Y food is better than anything served on-board UA. I remember attempting to eat a Duck dish on UA F that I could have used as an offensive weapon it was so tough and tasteless.
UA does do a lot of things right in the premium cabins but the food is most definitely not one of them.
Hyperbolic statements like the one I bolded might lead some readers to discount the rest of your analysis.
