Thanks
I thought because they charged it one way that you could book a one way business class ticket and that would be on his. If you have to book round trip with only the class of service being different then that is an issue.
The cost of transferring miles is .01 not .03 per mile. The cost of purchasing them is .028 per mile. Right now there is a special which gives 50% of the miles transferred to the person transferring them. So if he gives me 50,000 he gets 25,000.
He can give me his 50,000 and I can do the Fidelity thing which would get us to 395,000 but we may need 480,000 so I was trying to maximize it. We would have gotten 58,000 more miles with the transfer. I thought I could get him a one way with his miles and then the other way with my miles and get me a round trip with my miles.
Purchasing from LA or Atlanta really is the same number of miles.
So I need to figure out how to get more miles. If he transfers his to me it will cost $530 and he will still have the 25,000 left. If I can come up with another 50,000 for Fidelity then I would get another 25,000 miles -- that may also be doable. That would get me to 420,000 -- need to figure out how to get an additional 60,000 in the next 6-8 months.
