Any relaxation effect from taking a vacation would be more than negated by the stress and usual lack of sleep on a red-eye flight, particularly as one will not be getting a normal 7-8 hours of sleep on that flight... I do not mind red-eyes on a transoceanic flight, since there is time for a full night's sleep, but certainly not on a Hawaii flight to the West Coast.
I've told this countless times to AS, explaining that a lot of hawaii travel are families and vacationers that really aren't too keen on redeyes. however, that didn't seem to stop AS from having extremely high load averages on kauai flights. It seems like for as many people who lothe red eyes, there are just as many who love them.
I guess its still not a bad way into break into a market.
Assuming i had no loyalty, i would seek out a quality airline to hawaii (Alaska, Hawaiian, etc) before i would even think of booking G4.
