NineEleven did change everything. I don't bring that up though because it's irrelevant to the subject of drunk people being on an airplane. While I think that a drunk person can pose a security threat, I don't put them in the same category as I do a terrorist.

As far as "my "spirited defense" goes, you have it wrong. First, I'm not trying to "defend" anything. I don't have to. The flight deck crew will always have the final word on accepting a passenger. In most circumstances, the pilots will support their cabin crew as they have very limited interaction with the passengers. At least on my flights, an obviously intoxicated passenger will not be allowed to fly. I have had far too many negative experiences.

With all due respect, I realize the majority of you fly many, many miles every year. I venture to guess that, in my years of flying, I can stand up next to any of you in terms of miles flown. I have had numerous experiences from which to base my judgement calls on. I may not always get it right but I do the best I can. I do it with the welfare of my passengers, fellow crew members and self in mind. I don't do it with the idea of throwing people off of planes in mind. It's not any easier for me then it is anyone else. You all may feel perfectly comfortable flying with intoxicated passengers seated around you - I do not.
