You people are not getting the point; read the OP's posts more carefully. He was given bad info by AC (they told UA that he wasn't on the plane); he went on a tour, and therefore the tics were booked for him, not by him.
He did not want anyone to read his mind, nor did he blame anyone. No where did he state "expecting a UA agent to know what your tour operator booked on Air China"
I recently had a terrible time getting mileage plus credits, and was very frustrated by the runaround with clueless UA reps. I sympathize.
BTW, if you want MP credid for a StarAlliance flight, you HAVE to fill out the MP forms on UA's website; they are the ones who control the entire information flow from there.
This guy seems to be anew poster asking for help, and some twisted and misinterpreted his words and chastised and insulted him for having to ask for help.
Why bother answering if you don't have anything but nasty criticism?
