Holiday Inn Express Bath (Master Thread)
We stayed here a few weeks ago. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the historic part of Bath, and across the street from a shopping complex that includes a Sainsbury's. There is also a self-service laundrette at the Triangle intersection about a 5-7 minute walk away, and Victoria park (which has a huge playground for the younger set) is basically just across a parking lot, a pedestrian footbridge, and down a block of buildings from the hotel.
Check-in was quick and friendly (all the staff members were super-friendly), and my plat status was mentioned by the check-in agent. Parking was GBP 3/day, which is pretty cheap for the area. The room was tiny, but we were still able to fit in 2 adults and 2 children. The bathroom door is rather clever, in that in can be used to close off the entire bathroom or just the toilet. Although there is a lot of traffic on the main road, the room was very quiet.
There is a mobile pantry for light snacks, and a bar that has a variety of bottled beverages (none from the Bath brewery, unfortunately) and Boddingtons and Guiness on tap for prices equivalent to those you would find in a pub. There is also an Indian/Nepalese restaurant across the street that smelled delicious (but we didn't eat there). Breakfast was included, and is a pretty standard amalgam of an American chain-hotel breakfast and an English B&B full breakfast. The eggs were clearly from a packet, but the sausage was good, and there were two industrial toasters going full blast. The coffee was actually very good.
